Information for authors

For Authors

A practical resource centre for selecting a journal, preparing a complete manuscript, and understanding the path to publication.

Choose the Right Journal

Start with the journal directory, then read the full Aims & Scope, subject coverage, audience, and scope boundary for the most relevant titles. Choose according to the manuscript’s central question and contribution, not simply the presence of a specialty keyword.

For interdisciplinary work, consider which readership is best placed to assess and use the findings. Editors may discuss redirection where another Curette journal is a closer fit, but a transfer or external review is never guaranteed.

Submit a Manuscript

Choose the journal best aligned with your work, review its scope, and use the submission preparation gateway.

Author Guidelines

Review the platform-wide guidance and any journal-specific information before preparing files. Read the author guidelines.

Prepare the Manuscript

Use a specific, informative title; an abstract suited to the article type; accurate keywords; and a structure that lets readers follow the question, methods or approach, results, limitations, and interpretation. Provide complete author names, affiliations, a corresponding-author contact, and ORCID identifiers where available.

Figures and tables should be legible, necessary, accurately labelled, and consistent with the underlying evidence. References must be verified. Supplementary information should be clearly named, safe to share, and free of unnecessary patient or confidential information.

Article Types

Available formats may differ by journal. Consult the article-type directory and the selected journal’s scope.

Publication Ethics

Submissions should be original, accurately reported, and transparent about authorship, sources, and relevant concerns. Read the publication ethics principles.

Peer Review

The Curette uses single-blind peer review: reviewers normally know author identities, while authors normally do not know reviewer identities. Read the peer-review policy.

Open Access and APC

The Version of Record is normally published Gold Open Access under CC BY 4.0. There is no submission charge; after acceptance the APC is ₹5,999 for India billing locations or US$199 outside India. Read the APC policy.

Ethics, Consent, Trials, and Reporting

Research involving people, records, human material, animals, or regulated materials should include applicable prospective approvals, authorized waivers or exemptions, consent information, privacy safeguards, welfare measures, and registration details. Clinical trials should report a suitable public registry identifier where applicable. Case reports and clinical images require particular care for publication consent and re-identification risk. Review the full research ethics guidance.

Authorship, Contributions, and Conflicts

Confirm that every author made a substantive contribution, approves the work, and accepts accountability; agree author order and identify the corresponding author. Describe contributions and acknowledgements appropriately. Disclose relevant financial and non-financial interests, or state when none are identified. See Authorship and Conflicts of Interest.

Funding Disclosure

Identify financial and material support and, where relevant, explain the funder’s role. State clearly when the work received no specific funding.

Data Availability

Where applicable, describe whether and how supporting data can be accessed, including justified restrictions. Do not disclose confidential or identifying information.

AI Use and Preprints

Disclose material generative-AI assistance; human authors remain accountable, and AI cannot be an author. Verify all references and never submit fabricated patients, data, results, experiments, or images. Legitimate preprints are allowed when disclosed, but they remain subject to normal review and all ethics, privacy, consent, and legal duties. See the AI and preprint policies.

Submission and Technical Checks

Submit through the Author Portal with the selected journal, article type, manuscript files, author metadata, and declarations. Administrative or technical checks may identify incomplete files, metadata, policy information, or material needed for assessment. Passing these checks is not editorial acceptance.

Peer Review, Decision, and Revision

After initial assessment, suitable manuscripts may enter single-blind peer review. Reviewers know author identities; authors do not normally know reviewer identities. An editor may decline without external review, request revision, seek further review, accept, or reject. Revision responses should address each point clearly and identify changes; neither external review nor revision guarantees acceptance.

Corrections & Retractions

Material errors or integrity concerns may require a transparent post-publication notice. The appropriate response will depend on the record and the evidence available.

Acceptance, APC, Production, and Proofs

Only a formal editorial decision constitutes acceptance. There is no submission fee; after acceptance, the APC is ₹5,999 for India billing locations or US$199 outside India, subject to applicable taxes and any approved waiver or discount. Payment cannot guarantee acceptance, indexing, citations, or impact. Accepted work proceeds through production, metadata and licence checks, author proofs, and final publication checks.

Publication and Later Corrections

Articles are published through continuous publication and may be organized into volumes and issues. The published article is the Version of Record. Authors should report material errors promptly; corrections, Expressions of Concern, or retractions are linked transparently where appropriate. Read the scholarly-record policy.
