The Curette

Privacy

A cautious account of personal and manuscript information used by the publishing platform.

Scope

This notice describes information used to operate The Curette website and publishing services, including registration, manuscript submission, peer review, editorial processing, author communication, publication, system security, and technical operation.

Information We Use

Depending on a person’s role and activity, information may include account and contact details, affiliations, manuscript metadata and files, declarations, correspondence, reviewer and editorial records, audit and security records, and information needed to publish an accepted work.

Sensitive Medical Manuscript Information

Medical manuscripts can contain highly sensitive information. The platform does not intentionally collect direct patient identifiers as routine account data. Authors must avoid uploading unnecessary identifying patient information and must comply with applicable ethics, consent, confidentiality, privacy, and legal requirements.

Purposes and Access

Information is used to provide and secure the service, administer submissions and peer review, communicate with participants, maintain the scholarly record, and meet applicable obligations. Access should be limited to authorized people and services with a legitimate operational need.

Sessions and Operational Information

The application uses necessary account and session mechanisms to authenticate users, protect restricted areas, maintain workflow state, and support security. Operational records may include dates, actions, technical request information, and audit events needed to diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and maintain accountability. This notice does not represent necessary session functions as advertising or behavioural tracking.

Necessary Disclosure

Information may be disclosed where necessary to operate an authorized publishing workflow, protect the service or its users, investigate a concern, comply with applicable law, or maintain the scholarly record. Public article metadata and author information are published only through the publication process. Reviewer identities are protected under the single-blind model unless authorized disclosure applies.

Retention and Rights

Records may be retained as reasonably necessary for editorial accountability, security, legal obligations, dispute handling, and preservation of the scholarly record, subject to applicable law. Privacy questions or requests may be sent to contact@anvapublishing.com; available rights depend on applicable law and context.

Security

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect platform information. No online service can promise absolute security; suspected privacy or security concerns should be reported promptly.
